While Sunshine Grill has been a part of Taste of Cayman Food and Drink Festival for three years now, the 2018 event was Food and Beverage Manager of Sunshine Suites Resort, Omar Walker’s, first time working at the festival.
“Taste of Cayman is one of the best events I have ever been a part of or seen in the Caribbean,” Mr. Walker, said. “It was great seeing so many different restaurants, at the festival, and seeing the level of talent, that can be found on island. It is a wonderful event.”
Mr Walker also noted that he learnt a lot from the chefs at their sister property, and winner of the public’s vote for Best Restaurant in 2018, The Westin Grand Seven Miles Beach Resort and Spa.
“The Westin taught us a lot. We are definitely looking forward to see what they bring to this year’s event,” Mr. Walker said.
For the 2019 festival, Mr Walker aims to ensure that their booth reflect the laid back atmosphere of the restaurant.
“Sunshine Grill is the type of place that you just walk in, come and grab some tacos or sliders. Great quality food and service, without the fuss, that’s our goal,” Mr. Walker said.
“By getting involved with Taste of Cayman, we are really hoping to share our dishes with both locals and visitors and to showcase what we do here,” Mr. Walker said. “It’s really great exposure.”
While Sunshine Grill is famous for their fish tacos, Mr. Walker noted that festival goers should expect a surprise when they visit their booth at the upcoming event.
“Attendees should definitely expect something new from us this year,” Mr. Walker said. “We are taking one of our menu items and adding a twist to it.”
“It’s been a great event to be involved in. And if you haven’t gotten your tickets, you’re missing out,” Mr. Walker said.
